NILU monitors a comprehensive set of atmospheric parameters at the three polar observatories:

• ozone layer and stratosphere: total ozone column, ozone vertical profiles, polar stratospheric clouds, temperature profiles, NO2 column density
• greenhouse gases: methane, CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, CO, (O3)
• aerosol parameters: scattering, extinction, optical depth (AOD), vertical distribution, chemical composition
• inorganic pollutants
• persistent organic pollutants: PCB, pesticides, BFR, PFAS
• radiation: UV, PAR
• meteorological parameters: temperature, pressure, humidity, precipitation
• clouds: cloud coverage, cirrus vertical profiles
